LEADELL Pilv successfully represented a client in international arbitration proceedings
Partner Pirkka-Marja Põldvere, supported in the proceedings by attorney Artur Viira, represented a client in international arbitration proceedings relating to infrastructure, where the client sought payment for its work. The customer refused to pay the fee and, in turn, claimed compensation for significant losses allegedly arising from a breach of contract. The arbitral tribunal has now issued an award upholding LEADELL Pilv’s client’s claim and dismissing the counterclaim. Congratulations to our client!
Pirkka is one of Estonia’s leading specialists in arbitration, participating in (international) arbitration proceedings both as a party’s representative and as an arbitrator. He is Vice Chair of the Council of the Arbitration Court of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has been appointed by the Republic of Estonia as a member of the panel of arbitrators at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID; 2017–2029). Since 2022, he has been a member of the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) Commission on Arbitration and ADR and head of the Estonian delegation. It has noted that Pirkka has the best combination of academic knowledge and practical experience in the field of arbitration.
